From Blackwing -
Though he is best known as the lead guitarist and vocalist for the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia was much more than a musician. His house at 710 Ashbury Street marked the heart of the enlightenment and expression that pulsed through san Fransisco in the 1960s. It also fueled Jerry’s profound exploration into painting and visual arts.
Like his guitar playing, Jerry’s sketches and paintings seem to meander on the canvas, taking unepected turns efore changing shape entirely. They show us that improvisation isn’t just reserved for the stage and that our ideas shouldn’t be bound by what’s expected of us.
The Blackwing 710 is our tribute to Jerry Garcia and his fusion of visual and musical expression. A slice of his painting “Curves & Lines” is printed on each pencil, which features our soft graphite that is ideal for both drawing and songwriting.

The Blackwing 11 is our tribute to Bill Russell and his undeniable legacy on and off the basketball court. The number 11 foil stamped on each pencil represents the number of championships he won, more than any player in NBA history. Each pencil includes our soft graphite.
Bill Russell won eleven championships in thirteen seasons as the heart of the greatest dynasty in basketball history. He was a dynamic champion on the court whose impact forever changed the game. Off the court, his presence was even more impactful as he endeavored to fight for equality and social justice.
Bill Russell revolutionized the way basketball was played. A dominant defender and rebounder, he transformed blocking shots into an art form, turning defense into a fast-break weapon. His unselfish style of play redefined what it meant to be a star, prioritizing teamwork and strategy over individual stats. For Russell, the game was about more than personal glory. It was about the principles that made winning meaningful.
A fearless advocate for equality, he was a vocal leader off the court, standing with civil rights icons like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Muhammad Ali.

The Blackwing 746 is a tribute to the Golden Gate Bridge and other engineering wonders of the modern world. Each pencil features our firm graphite core and is finished with a special mulit-layered technique to bring out the iconic International Orange color of San Francisco’s world-famous Marvel.
In the summer of 1929, the newly- formed Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District hired Joseph B. Strauss to complete a task that many said was impossible: build a bridge across the churning waters of the Golden Gate Strait. He and his team of engineers, designers, and planners used pencil and paper to develop the sketches, design drafts, and finished plans that would become the Golden Gate Bridge.
When the Golden Gate Bridge opened on May 27, 1937, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. It measured 1.7 miles long, with a 4,200-foot main span and two 746-foot towers supporting the structure at either end. The innovative engineering techniques used to build the bridge have allowed it to withstand hurricane- force winds, raging ocean currents, and the rumblings of the nearby San Andreas Fault.

The Blackwing Point Guard is designed to ensure your Blackwing pencil gets wherever you’re going in one piece. Crafted out of lightweight, machined aluminum, the Point Guard goes over the point of your Blackwing pencil, keeping it safe in your bag, pocket, or pencil roll. The tip of your pencil “floats” inside the cap to protect your point against unexpected drops or jams.
The eraser is made of a special soft material that erases the dark lines of our graphite cleanly and easily. The holder is made of durable aluminum that lets you get a solid grip while erasing. It also includes a jumbo-sized version of the iconic Blackwing clip, so you can extend the eraser as you use it.
Blackwings have always been known for their iconic, replaceable, square erasers. To replace your eraser, slide the eraser and clip out of the ferrule, remove the clip from the old eraser, place the new eraser into the clip, and insert the new eraser and clip into the ferrule.

Sue dyed this colorway to act as a beautiful cheery neutral - for both samplers and also for more modern pictorial designs. The base is a soft buttermilk cream with shades of golden honey mottled throughout.

These bunnies are sure to bring a happy “spring” feel into your home! I especially love the sprig of florals on the brown bunny silhouette and the adorable floral wreath and checkered scarf on the big bunny. The Bloom sentiment was the “icing on the cake” for me - and made this design a must-have for the shop. The silk thread adds such rich color to the already beautiful design - just gorgeous.

The actual Treehouse, of Treehouse Fiber Arts.
For centuries, the Indigenous people of North America have preserved their histories through art. As more and more Native Americans were displaced by westward-expanding colonialism, art became a vessel for preserving their culture as well as their history. Their daily lives were recorded through paintings, songs, stories, and dances.
Native American art is both functional and beautiful, acting as a bridge to Indigenous cultures and offering a unique perspective on their history. These works enrich the lives of all Americans, providing a window into the world through Indigenous eyes.
The Blackwing 574 is a tribute to Native American art and the 574 nations that use it to assert agency and identity. Blackwing worked with Kaw, Osage, Lakota artist Chris Pappan to design a pencil that evokes geometric patterns found throughout many Native American expressions of culture. Each pencil includes Blackwing’s firm graphite.
A portion of the proceeds from this release will be donated to the Cheyenne River Youth Project and their mission to provide enriching arts programs to Lakota youth on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation.
