These are the best hoops that I have found so far on the market. I like the 16 mm the best for embroidery work because it’s not too thin that my hand cramps up from trying to “hang on,” but not too thick that my elbow and arm gets tired from holding a thicker, heavier hoop.

Your hands will notice the smooth edges and fine craftsmanship in these embroidery hoops. They are made of German beech wood with sturdy brass hardware. Your fabric will be held taut by the two wooden hoops because they fit precisely together. The brass screw is a slotted hex shape, allowing it to be tightened with a screwdriver or a wrench in addition to finger tightening.

I used a screwdriver to tighten my hoop for the first time - I was surprised how much tighter it got and how much better it held the fabric. Try it!
